AKFP set out to create a game-changing gluten-free experience for both the baker and the consumer. Our goal was to develop a flour from the naturally gluten-free cassava root that would greatly simplify formulations and deliver gluten-free products that rival their wheat-based counterparts. We believe we have attained both goals with our exclusive King Lion Specialty Cassava Flour. This flour has enabled several of our customers to launch successful, innovative end-products.
Our success with King Lion Specialty Cassava Flour inspired us to expand our cassava flour line to include the King Lion Basic Cassava Flour. This product was designed to meet the evolving needs of the gluten-free and grain-free bakery segments. The King Lion Basic Cassava Flour is a price friendly ingredient for simple formulations. It provides excellent taste and texture in gluten-free products like cakes, brownies, blondies, cookies, crackers, and much more.
Glutinous and Conventional Rice Flours (Expected Launch in 2025)– In 2025, AKFP will introduce a new line of glutinous and conventional rice flours. Glutinous rice flour has higher amylopectin which provides better gel consistency, a soft sticky elastic structure, and better retrogradation properties versus conventional rice flour. Conventional rice flour is ideal for less demanding formulations.
Superfine Rice Flours - AKFP is a North American distributor of Kumamoto Flour Milling Co. Ltd. of Japan. Kumamoto employs a special milling technology that results in distinctive, high-performance white and brown rice flours. These flours have uniform, superfine particles that have very low damaged starch levels. Both properties yield improved volumes and textures that combine to create market-leading, gluten-free breads and cakes.

Clean Label Solutions
AKFP also offers special performance, clean label flours and starches that provide superior functionalities to those of native starches without the need for chemical modification. These offerings include heat-treated, cook-up, and pre-gel potato and pea starches.

Cassava Flour
Cassava Flour is derived from cassava roots and is gluten-free, grain-free, clean label, and non-GMO. AKFP now offers King Lion Specialty Cassava Flour, our pioneering ingredient, and King Lion Basic Cassava Flour at different price points which are available as conventional and organic. These products meet the needs of a range of manufacturers, from baking applications such as brownies, cookies, and cakes, to extruded products such as soft tortillas, tortilla chips, puffed snacks as well as pet food products.
Native Starches
AKFP offers a variety of native starches including Potato, Tapioca, Organic Tapioca, Pea, and Rice. These gluten-free, clean label and non-GMO ingredients are used as thickeners and binding agents. AKFP is also proud to add Waxy Tapioca Starch to our product line, which can enhance expansion and crispiness in snacks, improve mouthfeel in dairy products, and provide emulsifying properties to dressings.
Waxy Native Tapioca Starch
AKFP now offers a Waxy Native Tapioca Starch that is clean label, non-GMO, and gluten-free. This ingredient acts as an emulsifier for salad dressings and is a great thickener for those applications that undergo large temperature changes during processing. It can also enhance expansion and provide crispiness to extruded snacks as well as improve the mouthfeel of dairy products.
King Lion Cassava Dough Blend
King Lion Cassava Dough Blend is a proprietary blend of cassava-based products that is gluten-free and grain-free. This dough can create variations for multi-textured baked snacks ranging from crackers and breadsticks to cheese-based delicacies with incredible flavor and appealing texture.
King Lion Pregelatinized Native Tapioca Starch
King Lion Pregelatinized Native Tapioca Starch is a starch which is applied as a universal binding, thickening and texturing agent in a range of food applications. It has good expansion capabilities and favorable extrusion properties.
